Eco Friendly Toiletries Gift Guide

It’s the season of giving, and what better way to give back than to our planet!  With my eco friendly toiletries gift guide, you can find the perfect gift for yourself or someone you care about that also supports the health of our earth.

Over the last few years I’ve been thinking a lot more about the products I use and their potential impact on the environment.  As a result, I’ve been switching up a lot of my toiletries to more eco friendly versions!  I’m still learning more and continuing to experiment with different products, but I figured I’d share some of my current faves with you.

Please note: this post is not sponsored and all products were purchased by and independently tested by me, personally.  This post does contain Amazon affiliate links and I do earn a small commission on any purchases made through these links.

Bamboo Toothbrush from MitButy

You know how you’re supposed to replace your toothbrush every 3 months?  Well most toothbrushes are made of, you guessed it, plastic.  These bamboo toothbrushes have a 100% biodegradable handle and come in eco-friendly packaging.  The soft bristles are also perfect for folks like me with sensitive gums.  And each toothbrush is numbered, so if you have multiple people in your household using them you can tell yours apart!  Each toothbrush comes in its own biodegradable box which makes them perfect for stocking stuffers.

Bodywash Bar from Ethique

Instead of squeezing bodywash from a plastic bottle, you can use a bodywash bar!  Either rub it on your skin (like you would with a regular bar of soap), or use a washcloth or loofah.  They come in compostable packaging (no plastic involved) and unlike a normal bar of soap are formulated to be gentle on your skin just like liquid bodywash.  Even better, they’re vegan and plant-based and are made with ethical, sustainably sourced ingredients.  My personal favorite is the pumice, tea tree, and spearmint scent.

Solid Shampoo Bar and Conditioner Bar from Ethique

Once again, get all the benefit of a luxurious shampoo and conditioner but in bar form!  These bars are super long-lasting once you get used to using them (I definitely overused them in the beginning).  I’m on month 6 with my bars and there’s no sign of them disappearing anytime soon!  And they have a variety of bars for different kinds of hair.  I got the sampler pack to try a few out before committing to the larger bar.  For best results, store them in Ethique’s in-shower soap dish.  A shampoo and conditioner bar both fit perfectly in one of Ethique’s soap dishes and they’re compostable too!

Makeup Remover Bar from Ethique

Gone are the days of needing to use makeup remover from a plastic container and dozens of single-use cotton pads.  Instead, you can simply dampen your face, later this makeup remover bar and remove makeup with ease.  It’s so simple and doesn’t dry out my skin like other makeup removers can.

Menstrual Cup from DivaCup

Not only are menstrual cups better for the environment, but they’re so much more convenient for just living your life.  No more mental gymnastics trying to figure out how many tampons you’ll have to stuff in your bag before leaving the house.  Just make sure you get comfortable using a menstrual cup BEFORE venturing too far from home.  There is a bit of a learning curve on these, but once you get the hang of it they are, quite literally, life changing.

Reusable Storage Bag from Stasher

Okay, so I know we’re not doing a lot of traveling right now with the pandemic in full force, but it’s still good to be prepared for when we can again!  Instead of putting your toiletries in a single-use plastic bag, store them in these airtight, durable, reusable silicone storage bags.  It’ll keep everything else in your bag protected from potential spills, and can be used again and again and again!  The pocket sized bags are also perfect for storing a little bottle of hand sanitizer in your bag which is much more relevant for my life right now. :P

I’m still testing out new eco friendly products all the time and will definitely be updating this list in the future.  In the meantime, leave me some of your eco friendly faves in the comments!
