Girl’s Weekend – A Week in the Life

Happy Monday!  I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already this week, can you?!  I’ve been busy trying to get blog posts written, videos edited, and posts scheduled so I can have a more relaxed time during the holidays. :P  Last weekend was also girl’s weekend! My mom, aunt and grandma go on a girl’s trip once a year–this year we went to Red Wing, Minnesota. It was a very quick drive, only about an hour which was nice!  On the way, we stopped for lunch at B-52s in Inver Grove Heights. I tried their chicken caesar wrap with french fries! I’m not a huge fan of wraps generally, but every once in a while I get the taste for one, and this one hit the spot.

Friday night for supper, we went to the Staghead in Red Wing.  It’s a really cute, small, cozy restaurant that makes everything to order and uses quality ingredients.  They had live music too which enhanced the cozy atmosphere. I wasn’t super hungry after a big lunch, so I tried their vegetable chili with grilled bread.  It was very tasty, and the bread came with salted honey butter which was a huge plus!

On Saturday, we met up with another one of my aunts in the morning for an indoor farmer’s market.  It was pretty small with only half a dozen vendors, but so cute to check out! We did some more shopping throughout the day, and went to the Falkner Winery.  They had a cheese and chocolate event with their wine sampling which was really fun. They get their cheese from Ellsworth creamery in Wisconsin, so it’s good stuff!

Saturday night, we went to The Port restaurant in the basement of the historic Saint James Hotel.  It was such a unique venue with cobblestones and a nice fireplace. I tried their gnocchi with wild mushrooms and sweet potatoes.  It was very filling, but so good!

On Sunday, we drove into Wisconsin to visit the Villa Bellezza winery in Pepin.  It’s the biggest, and most gorgeous winery I’ve been to yet! It’s out sort of in the middle of nowhere, but the building and grounds have a Mediterranean feel.  I’m sure it would be absolutely lovely to visit in the summer, but it was still very nice during our visit. We tasted some wines, and then enjoyed their authentic Italian brunch!  It was the perfect way to round out the weekend before heading home.

I hope everyone who celebrates enjoys their Thanksgiving!  I’ll see you here again next week!
