Tender and well-seasoned, these homemade Ninja Foodi chicken tenders are the perfect finger food!

Jump to Recipe

Chicken tenders have been a favorite of mine ever since childhood. There’s just something so nostalgic and comforting about them, plus a multitude of different sauces to dip them in! I tried making tenders in the past in my oven, but wasn’t getting the crispy texture I wanted. And that’s where my Ninja Foodi comes in! I had so much fun testing out this recipe, and the tenders come out perfectly crispy every time.

To start, you need to cut your chicken breasts into strips. You can also buy pre-cut strips from most grocery stores. I like to just cut up chicken breasts though, as it’s usually cheaper per pound. I typically cut each breast into strips lengthwise. Some of them may end up being longer than others, and that’s totally fine. You do want to make sure that they’re about the same thickness though, so that you don’t wind up with some being overdone while others are underdone.

Then you need to set up your dredging station! You’ll need your flour in one small bowl, the beaten eggs in another small bowl, and your breadcrumbs and seasonings mixed together in a third bowl. Then, you work your way across, first coating your chicken strips in flour, then the egg, and finally the breadcrumb mixture. Once your chicken tenders are breaded, lightly spray each one with cooking spray and place into the air crisper basket of your Ninja Foodi, in a single layer.

Set your Foodi to ‘air crisp’ at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes, flipping each tender halfway through for even browning. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Store any leftovers in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.
  • To make this recipe gluten-free, simply use a gluten-free flour like almond flour instead of all-purpose.
  • Depending on the size of your Foodi or air fryer, you may need to air crisp in multiple batches. Keep finished tenders in your oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit to keep them warm while you're crisping more.
  • Safety first! I love using my silicone oven mitts and tongs to keep myself safe while cooking with my Ninja Foodi.
