The perfect, crispiest fries EVER! Easy to make in the Ninja Foodi or air fryer.
Jump to RecipeI’m a crispy fry person, but have never been able to get that crispy texture I’m looking for in the oven. And while I’m not opposed to deep frying some fries, there’s all that oil spattering everywhere that makes it less fun. So as soon as I got my Ninja Foodi, fries was one of the first things on my list of things to try. They’re so easy to throw together and that TEXTURE though! I’m obsessed!

Make sure your potatoes are cleaned really well. You can peel them if you want, but I personally like to keep the skin on for my fries. To cut them into french fry strips, I cut slices in my potatoes lengthwise and then cut strips into each lengthwise piece.
Place your french fry strips in a large bowl, cover with cold water, and let soak for at least 30 minutes. Soaking the fries is important to help remove excess starch so that the potatoes crisp better. So if you want crispy fries, make sure this isn’t a step that you skip!
After your fries have soaked, drain them and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. You want to make sure that your fries are dried off well so that they can get nice and crispy. Then place them in a bowl and toss with the olive oil and salt.
Place your fries in a single layer into the air crisper basket in your Ninja Foodi or air fryer. Make sure you don’t overfill the basket, or they won’t crisp properly. You may need to make multiple batches, depending on the size of the basket and how many fries you’re making. You can heat your oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit to keep the fries warm in.
Set Foodi to ‘air crisp’ at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through so that the fries crisp evenly. Add a few more minutes if you want your fries a bit crispier and brown, or take them out a couple minutes early if you want them less crispy.
Remove from your Ninja Foodi and serve immediately for best results! Enjoy!

Notes
- Air crisping in a single layer is important to get the fries nice and crispy. Depending on the size of your Ninja Foodi or air fryer you may need to air crisp in multiple batches. Turn your oven on at 200 degrees Fahrenheit to keep fries warm in between batches.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight glass container in the fridge for up to 3-5 days. Reheat in air fryer at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-5 minutes.
Thank you for posting this recipe, along with the serious urging to not skip the very step that I always have– and have thus been disappointed at my less-than-crispy fries (and hashbrowns).
My Foodi is my best kitchen tool, hands down. It has made so many things possible, in shorter time and energy than traditional stove/oven alone.
